Director: Axel Ranisch, Screenplay: Axel Ranisch, Peter Trabner, Heiko Pinkowski. Germany, 2012, 76 min. In German with English subtitles, digital. Starring: Heiko Pinkowski, Peter Trabner, Ruth Bickelhaupt, Paul Pinkowski
Life for middle-aged Bank Clerk Sven (Pinkowski) is difficult. He lives with his demented mother Edeltraut (Bickelhaupt): sharing her life, her apartment, and even her bed. During the day, while Sven is away at work, Edeltraut’s caretaker Daniel comes to the apartment to watch over her. Daniel (Trabner) not only takes her out for walks, to the hairdresser, and grocery shopping, but keeps the house in order.. One day while cleaning windows, Edeltraut locks Daniel on the balcony, and she wanders out of the house. As Sven and Daniel search for Edeltraut together, they not only find her, but also discover something in each other (as well as within themselves) that turns their lives upside down. A tragically comic love story, Ranisch’s feature length debut was completed on a budget of less than 550 Euros.
