Screening of Erik Schmitt’s debut feature

The German Film Office is pleased to kick off a new season of its popular “Kids Kino” series with the award-winning feature film Cleo – If I Could Turn Back Time.
Register Recommended for children 9 years old and above.

Cleo has an almost magical connection to her hometown Berlin. Since childhood, she could see people and things from the city’s past that no one else could. But what she wants most of all is to turn back time to before her parents died. A treasure of mythical proportions—a magical clock—promises the solution. Together with her quirky but loveable buddies Paul, Zille, and Günni, Cleo sets off to find the clock, embarking on a quest that takes her all over Berlin, back in time, and deep into her own emotional world.

Erik Schmitt’s debut feature is an artfully crafted cinematic fairytale that is a love song to both the city of Berlin and to the power of imagination.

“Schmitt’s keen command of idiosyncratic detail and a charming central performance from Lohse ensure the route taken is both surprising and memorable.”—Nikki Baughan, Screen Daily

Cleo – If I Could Turn Back Time won Best Youth Film at Filmkunstfest Schwerin and Best Children’s Film at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
