No Informal Waste Collectors left behind
Support recovery of Vulnerable Women from Covid-19 pandemic.
The project idea is to pilot innovative outreach interventions with poor female informal waste collectors. They provide an essential but unrecognized public service in waste collection and recycling in Vietnam, but are marginalized, muted and vulnerable, a situation made worse by COVID-19. The project aims to develop and apply communication technology and tools to upgrade NGO programme delivery methods in pandemic conditions (lockdowns, meetings, and social distancing). It pilots waste collector training, skills development, and income enhancement in Hai Phong City. GreenHub will collaborate with the female-led Thanh Vinh cooperative to implement project activities. Results include group communication tools, intervention techniques, and health advisories and improved waste handling guidelines.
