The film tells the last years of life of the writer Stefan Zweig, who came from the Jewish Viennese upper middle class, from 1936 to the common suicide with his second wife Lotte in 1942. “Vor der Morgenröte” also focused on Stefan Zweig’s inner struggle for the “right attitude” toward the events in war torn Europe, and his search for a new home.
“Vor der Morgenröte” is a third film in the role of director of German actress Maria Schrader, helping her won awards in Germany and Europe.
