The Goethe-Institut is the globally active cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Goethe-Institut Vietnam promotes cultural exchange, education and social discourse between Germany and Vietnam.

In line with the Goethe-Institut's global motto “In exchange with the world: for diversity, understanding and trust”, our cultural and educational programs create space for people to work together and exchange ideas across existing borders and barriers.
The program work in both our locations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is developed in close and trusting cooperation with Vietnamese partners in culture and civil society whereby strengthening the local cultural scene in a sustainable way is a central goal. This partner-oriented approach runs like a common thread through all programs with which the Goethe-Institut is constantly on the lookout for free spaces for art and creativity and fills them with life.

Special focus areas of cultural work are: Migration, Inclusion, Postcolonialism, Gender & LGBTIQ*, Urbanization, Sustainability and Digital Society. With these focus topics, we want to anticipate national and global social changes and react to developments in Germany, Vietnam and the ever more closely interwoven world. Our cultural and educational events invite you to open dialogs, aesthetic experiments and a change of perspective.
