Selected short films presented by Heinz Hermann, director of the Berlin short film festival interfilm.

interfilm has established itself as one of the most important short film festivals in Europe and is recognised as the second most significant and oldest international film festival in Berlin after the Berlinale. More than 7.000 films with a maximum running time of 20 minutes are submitted each year. Of those, approximately 500 films are selected and organised into different thematic programs. 'Focus On' highlights productions from specific countries or regions. Beyond that there are also special sections devoted to areas such as music videos, commercials, experimental films, historical films and retrospectives.

After 2012, this is already the second visit of festival director Heinz Hermanns at the Goethe-Institut Vietnam. On 29.3.2017 at 7 PM, he will introduce the festival at Goethe-Institut Hanoi and show selected short films from last year’s program.

Furthermore, he will conduct a short film workshop for film students in Hanoi (not open for public). He will show examples of international creative and successful short films and look at different categories and the aesthetic range of the genre. On top of that, he will guide the students through the production of their own short film.

Heinz Hermanns, born in Duisburg, studied politics in Berlin and Italy. He is the founder of the interfilm-festival and was the co-director of the Italian short film festival „Pollicino“ from 1990 to 1996. Furthermore, he is the co-founder of the short film festival “Going Underground” which is held in the Berlin subway and since 2011 also in the subway in Seoul. He is also co-founder and curator of the Zebra poetry short film festival that presents short films which interpret poems. He worked as a consultant for the Kingbonn China Short Film Festival in Shenzhen, China and founded the Short Visions short film festival in Ningbo, China.
