Taking the novel "Immortality" by author Milan Kundera as the point of departure - a story about love, the creator, and the world, Duong Thuy Duong began her journey by creating dream images that captivated her soul. For her new exhibition "New Planets of Agnes" at Mo Art Space, Thuy Duong showcases a mysterious hazy world filled with figurative expressions through her new oil on canvas paintings. By incorporating dark colour palettes, she creates the shape of the landscapes, evoking the state and emotions of dreams about utopian visions. Illusions of a primordial alien planet filled with colourful dust clouds evolve beyond the limits of physics and chemistry. In contrast to the gloomy atmosphere, the nature in her paintings still radiates softness, skillfully balances emotions, and enhances the illusion of dreams. (Curatorial text by Nguyen Hai Nam)
Duong Thuy Duong was born in 1979 in Hanoi, and currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. Inspired by surrealism and abstraction, Duong Thuy Duong's paintings refer to the artist's view of her identity, cultural transfer as well as daily life between two different worlds.
