Ngaba Philasande
Ngaba Philasande is a Mdantsane-born and bread creative. Mdantsane is the second largest township in South Africa and is located in the inner part of Buffalo City Metro in East London; Eastern Cape. He is an artist who fell in love with the arts at an early age and later on developed the much needed skills of a stage technician. He has been involved with the creative industry for over 15 years, in all these years he has been focusing on stage management and events coordination. He has been working on projects such as Just Chilled Session (outdoor events), All Caps Session (spoken word) in Pretoria, and The Black Power Station (Makhanda) as a sound technician during the National Arts Festival. He has worked with the black-owned wine brand called Khayelitsha’s Finest Wine (CPT) offering lighting and stager technical support and is part of the founding members of Mind Construction, which is a community creative-based initiative that organises events in previously disadvantaged locations. Also participated in the Garden of colour (E.L), recently has been collaborating with the Mbaula Backyard Session (E.L) which is a local based art market and lastly but not least is a resident technician and stage management during this 5 years working with the Artside space (E.L) which is a platform that is created for artists to presents their talent and to horn their skills.
Currently, he is involved in establishing a creative village that will focus on artistic development and in relation to the issues of global warming and climatic changes, trying to push artistic boundaries of producing artworks beyond the conventional means of production, scales and mandates.
