About the Artist

Kustiyah was known as a gentle personality in contrast to her paintings. Her works were filled with sharp lines and rough sweeps of colour. Through her specific artistic approach, she painted what was around her, changing the familiar and natural scenery around her into a vibrant visual statement. Kustiyah started her artistic journey at ASRI Yogyakarta and then continued with the Pelukis Rakyat (Peoples’ Artists) and Pelukis Indonesia (Indonesian Painters).
