"Deutsch mit Socke" (German with Sock) is a film series by the WDR that helps children between the ages of five and eight take their first steps learning German.
As a teacher, you will be given tips on how to take children by the hand to get them to listen, repeat and, time and again, join in.
In thirteen short films, Esther and Sock exchange a lot of information and feelings. Esther is a young woman who talks to Sock about all sorts of things - just like in real life. Sock is red, imaginative, a bit naughty and full of energy. There are many situations in which Esther and Sock speak and act together in German - because they have something to say to each other and share experiences. Children can easily identify with Sock.
That's what this material is about: Children are encouraged to speak and act in the foreign language - just like Sock.
