Afghan music from the 70s to the present - curated by Ismael Hares

Ismael Hares was born on October 7, 1978 in Kabul, Afghanistan. He was born with a severe disability and is dependent on a wheelchair. At the end of the 1970s, his family had to flee shortly before the invasion of the Soviet Union. Ismael Hares sang many Afghan songs as a child, but later became a German rapper and released several albums under his stage name.

His choice of songs is subjective and ranges from classical music and folklore to Afghan pop songs. They all deal a lot with love, home, longing and lust for life. The songs from the 70s in particular were broadcast on state television. This was probably also the heyday of Afghan composition and poetry.
