Filmmaker Zamarin Wahdat gives an introduction to her project "Khirkee Stories" as part of the short film programme.

In March 2022, Zamarin Wahdat conducted a two-day workshop with members of the Afghan community living in Khirkee, a town in southern Delhi. They shot four short films using only cell phones. These "Khirkee Stories" are portraits of Delhi's streets and residents* from the perspective of the Afghan community.

The visual artist and director Zamarin Wahdat was born in 1989 in the Afghan capital Kabul. At the age of two, she fled with her family to Hamburg, where she still lives today. After graduating from high school, she briefly left the Hanseatic city to study at the School of Media, Film and Music University of Sussex in Brighton. She then completed her master's degree at NYU Tisch School of the Arts in New York, and worked as a second cinematographer and translator for Carol Dysinger's Oscar-winning documentary short Learning To Skateboard In A Warzone (If You Are A Girl), shot in Afghanistan.
In 2020, she finally won the award for "Best International Short Film" at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival with her directorial debut, the short film Bambirak.
