Media Mingle: Film Screening & Discussion on Climate Activism

Join us for this month’s edition of Media Mingle, your monthly cultural rendezvous at the Goethe-Institut Toronto! On the third Wednesday of each month, our Media Lounge transforms into a lively space for engaging activities and discussions, welcoming German language learners, film buffs, and the community.

This Month’s Theme: Climate Activism
This November, we’re screening "Bis hierhin und wie weiter" (Stick Together), a thought-provoking film on climate activism. This multi-award-winning film captures the struggles of activists fighting for a better future amid a hostile world. Facing tough choices, they must decide whether to risk everything for their ideals or give up. How far will they go for their ideals?

Post-Screening Discussion with Climate Experts
After the screening, join us for a discussion with two experts on climate activism and sustainable practices:

Anne von TCAN
Anne is a parent, an advocate for climate justice, and an independent scholar. She is currently co-chair of Toronto Climate Action Network and co-chair of the Toronto District School Board’s Environment Committee. She also serves on the Board of Environmental Education Ontario and is a key organizer with For Our Kids Toronto – a group of parents and caregivers who advocate for climate justice. Anne is using these networks to find ways for schools to engage with Toronto’s climate action plan. She is also currently supporting a key climate court case against the government of Ontario in which her daughter is one of the young plaintiffs.

Dr. Sabine Weber
Sabine Weber, a Professor at Seneca College, is dedicated to advancing sustainability and circular systems. With a background in Apparel Engineering from Germany, she brings extensive international experience and has led projects to reduce waste and promote sustainable practices. Sabine co-founded the Ontario Textile Diversion Collaborative, supporting textile recycling and sustainable supply chains.

Come ready to watch, listen, and share your thoughts on how climate activism can make a difference. We look forward to an inspiring evening of film and discussion!
