Mobility of Ancient Human Groups: Strontium Isotopes

Universitas dan Umum

In this film, MSc. Lisiane Müller discusses how mobility is an important timeless aspect of human life. On a ludic and didactic way, the video shows how it is possible to do a biogeochemical tracking to discover details about the geographical origin and the mobility of ancient human groups. This is done through the analysis of a chemical element present in the teeth of human groups that lived 10 thousand years ago in Central Brazil. It is also shown how this work adds up to many others in a Brazilian research group. That demonstrates the importance of archaeological studies for the rediscovery of human beings’ deep history in South America.
