Bill Odidi

Bill Odidi ist ein in Nairobi ansässiger kenianischer Journalist mit über 20 Jahren Erfahrung in Radio und Fernsehen, Print- und Onlinemedien. Er ist derzeit Controller of Radio Programmes (Creative Division) bei der Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in Nairobi. Odidi schreibt für führende kenianische Publikationen wie die Business Daily und Daily Nation über kulturelle Trends. Er berichtet auch über afrikanische Musik für das Programm Music Time in Africa auf Voice of America (VOA). Zuvor moderierte er von 2009 bis 2011 das Kunstmagazin Bonjour Culture für Radio France Internationale (R.F.I.).
Odidi als Forscher und Mitautor im Rahmen verschiedener Projekte zur Dokumentation der Geschichte der kenianischen Volksmusik. Dazu gehören Retracing the Benga Rhythm, Retracing Kenya's Funky Hits of the 70s, Retracing Kenya's Songs of Social and Political Protest und Shades of Benga: The Story of Popular Music in Kenya (alle bei Ketebul Music veröffentlicht). Odidi war von 2013 bis 2015 im Vorstand der Music in Africa Foundation.
