In anticipation of the German Film Festival 2025 (30 April – 21 May) we present a distinctive afternoon of film & conversation featuring director Christian Schwochow and his film The German Lesson (2019) — a compelling reflection on authority, political identity, and personal responsibility. The German Lesson, adapted from the classic novel "Deutschstunde" by Siegfried Lenz, brings into focus the cost of blind obedience and the quiet power of resistance.

After the film, award-winning director Christian Schwochow will join Christoph Mücher, Director of the Goethe-Institut Australia, for a live Q&A session and a deeper dive into the film’s themes, creative process, and the contemporary relevance of the film.
