"Dare to make more progress" - under this motto, the Ampel coalition promised a hopeful departure in 2021. But two years later, the governing parties SPD, Greens and FDP are consistently losing in state elections and their poll ratings are sinking. Bündnis 90/Die Grünen have to defend themselves against massive criticism after their high-flying 2021 and the far-right AfD is now also posting successes in the western federal states. Even initiatives such as the "Deutschlandpakt" proclaimed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz do not seem to be able to stop this trend. Is liberal democracy facing a crisis and needs to undergo a renewal? Or even worse: is liberal democracy as a form of government in danger?
These are the questions the weekend German course in Luxembourg will address.
