EUFF 2022: NO ONE'S WITH THE CALVES

Canadian Premiere

(Germany 2021, 116 min), directed by Sabrina Sarabi, starring Saskia Rosendahl (Oscar-nominated Never Look Away), Rick Okon, Godehard Giese and others

Midsummer in Schattin, a tiny village in the north of former East Germany. Here, 24-year-old Christin lives with her boyfriend Jan, who is a year older, on his father's dairy farm. In the sleepy provincial townlet there are five houses, a bus stop, lots of cows and even more fields. The spirit of optimism of the post-reunification years, which Christin and Jan experienced as children, is little more than a distant memory for the two of them -- much like their former love for each other. For some time now, Christin has longed to simply disappear, no matter where. When 46-year-old Klaus, a wind power engineer from Hamburg, shows up one day, her dream seems to be within reach.
