German countertenor Nils Wanderer and Canadian pianist Jennifer Szeto are pleased to present a recital at the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with the German Consulate General in Montreal and the German Embassy in Ottawa.

Nils Wanderer was already in Montreal in June 2022 and won the audience award at the Concours Musical International de Montreal (CMI).

Jennifer Szeto

Praised for an “an immense sweetness and precision which seemed to be flawless” (L’Opéra) and “amazing versatility” (Opera Ramblings), pianist Jennifer Szeto carves out a dynamic path as a performer, music director, and arts administrator. She is a graduate of San Francisco Opera’s prestigious Adler Fellowship, the Merola Opera Program, Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio, and the Atelier Lyrique programme at Opéra de Montréal. A sought-after collaborator for new opera, Jennifer is the Artistic Director of Musique 3 Femmes, a non-profit organization which commissions and develops contemporary operas by emerging female composers and librettists with a biennial $50,000 award, the Mécénat Musica Prix 3 Femmes. 
A passionate administrator for the arts, Jennifer works for Toronto’s Tapestry Opera, where she helms the new Canadian Opera Resource database (COR) and the Women in Musical Leadership Program, a multi-year fellowship for female and non-binary conductors in partnership with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Pacific Opera Victoria. In 2020, Jennifer joined the Board of Directors of the Association for Opera in Canada. She holds a M.Mus. in Piano Accompaniment from McGill University, a B.Mus Performance from University of Toronto, and has received additional training from SongFest and the Franz Schubert Institut in Baden-bei-Wien, Austria.

Nils Wanderer

Born in South Germany Countertenor Nils Wanderer studied Singing and music theatre at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar with Prof. Siegfried Gohritz. He went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London with Professor Andrew Watts as a member of the Opera course receiving a full scholarship.

Nils Wanderer has taken vocal master classes with Vivica Genaux, Emma Kirkby, Karina Gauvin, Patricia Pace, Karl-Peter Kammerlander, Axel Köhler, amongst others. He works on a regular basis with Matthias Rexroth.

He collaborates regularly as a soloist with orchestras such as La follia Augsburg, Lautencompagney Berlin, Baroque Orchestra Karlsruhe, La Sfera Armoniosa, Staatskapelle Weimar, Jenaer Philharmonics on stages including Teatro Massimo Palermo, Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, De Nederlandse Reisopera, Opera Bonn, Theatre Chemnitz, and venues like Vatican in Rome, Philharmonie de Paris, L’Auditori Barcelona, la Chapelle Royale de Versailles, Thomaskirche Leipzig, UNESCO World Heritage Monastery Maulbronn, Wigmore Hall London, Barbican Centre in London and Festivals like Festival Perigord Noir, Klassik Sommer Hamm, Festival de Música Antigua de Sevilla under the baton of conductors such as Jordi Savall, Kent Nagano, Andreas Spering, Jürgen Budday, Simon Harsley, Michael Alber and Dominic Beykirch.
