« Les amazones » von Laurita Ngringeh
"Les Amazones" tells the story of two tough-minded sisters who were granted the so-called “privilege” of being born into their family. The sisters, Zama and Sone, are hounded day and night to provide for the family’s needs. With no concern about the source of the money they receive, the family tenders more and more requests for help through letters and calls. Forced into prostitution from the age of 12, the sisters give up everything in the struggle for the family’s survival, including their right to life and love.
Born in 1992 in Bafoussam, Laurita Ngringeh is an artist who is fully dedicated to her passion for theatre, both in practice as an actress and in research as a student researcher. Perfectly bilingual (French-English), she is versatile and has taken on various roles in theatre and film projects: make-up artist, costume designer, administrator, producer, director, actor. Thanks to collaborations and internships with leading professionals in Yaounde and Douala, she has built a respectable reputation in the field. As a winner of Goethe-Découverte under the Theatre category, she will be presenting her production of "Les Amazones" by Jean Robert Tchamba (2015), a play which deals with a number of topical issues in Cameroonian society, such as family pressure, prostitution, poverty, and exploitation.
The “Goethe-Découverte” platform is a dedicated space for artists to express themselves. Its aims to support young talent in Cameroon, facilitate dialogue between art professionals and cultural journalists and, above all, arouse the interest of producers and publicists in the young talents selected.
