OPEN CALL: Would You Buy This?

Are you a filmmaker with a completed short film, ready for festivals, sales, or distribution? Pragueshorts Film Festival & Goethe-Institut invite you to submit your film for Would You Buy This?—an industry session offering direct feedback from sales agents, TV programmers, and distributors.

What is it?

How do distribution, sales, and VOD professionals select short films for their portfolios? The industry session Would You Buy This? presents a unique opportunity to find out what determines a film’s success on the marketplace. Selected filmmakers will present the first three minutes of their film to a panel of experts, who will assess its distribution potential and provide valuable feedback. 

In order to make the selection as diverse as possible, the program features a wide range of short films representing multiple genres – from documentaries and animation to experimental and mainstream work. Besides providing the filmmakers with valuable insight, the program also give audiences the chance to observe the process of short film evaluation and distribution. 
The program will be in English without interpretation.

Who can apply?

We welcome all types of short films—documentary, animation, kids, experimental, mainstream, and artistic. The session is open to both film students and established production companies, making it a valuable opportunity for emerging and experienced filmmakers alike. To showcase the full range of short film storytelling, we aim to select at least one example from each genre. 

Even if your film is not selected for the program, we still encourage you to attend, as this is a unique opportunity to see firsthand how industry professionals evaluate films and gain valuable insights into the distribution process.

More to Look Forward To

After the session, there will be a cocktail reception and an opportunity for one-on-one meetings with industry guests.

How to apply?

Deadline: February 18th
Submit your film for consideration via this Google sheet.
Selected filmmakers will be notified shortly after the deadline.
