Amina Younes

Amina is a Lebanese journalist. She holds an MA in Health and Environmental Journalism from the Lebanese University in Beirut and is currently a PhD student in Mass Communication at the Beirut Arab University. She works as an editor for the websites “Ounousa” (Femininity) and “Sehaty” (My Health). Following her successful participation in the Goethe project “Media and Science in the MENA Region”, she was recently selected for a one-year training programme for the promotion of Arab women in climate-change-focused journalism by the taz Panter Foundation.

My areas of interest:

The Environment and Health

Beside environmental journalism, which, in the Arab World, still has a long way to go toward professionalisation, I am particularly interested in health issues. With my article, I aimed to shed light on the importance of immunisation against the coronavirus. Most medical doctors view vaccination as the only solution in the battle against the continuing pandemic. Nevertheless, many Lebanese people refused to get the vaccine. There were various reasons for this, including the record time in which vaccines were produced and misinformation or misunderstandings regarding possible side effects.
