My Areas of Interest:

Protecting the Environment During Wars

“I chose to write about the devastating impact of the war in Yemen on vegetation. The war and blockade imposed on Yemen have prompted people to clear trees, shrubs, and forests in order to get firewood. This had dire consequences: large-scale deforestation contributes significantly to the ongoing loss of biodiversity in Yemen. Medicinal plants and biodiversity will disappear from many areas, leaving behind a barren desert; wild animals and birds will lose their habitat and their existence will be threatened. This issue is important and closely related to the future of the Yemeni environment, so in my report I sound the alarm to protect the remnants of the diversity of vegetation before they are destroyed by long years of war.”
