Michael Shiferaw is a consultant architect by profession and works as an author of Ethiopian literature, translator, reviewer, and literary critic.
His publications include fiction and non-fiction. His novels የምርኮ ሀገር እውነት (The Land of Captivity) and የወፍ ማስፈራሪያ (The Scarecrow) are metaphorical parables in Amharic. His best-known work is ሚስጢረኛው ባለቅኔ (The Mysterious Poet), in which he analyses the works of the late great Ethiopian poet and playwright Tsegaye Gebremedhin.
