Tibeb Be Adebabay ("Art in Public Space") is a participatory contemporary street art festival held in both offline and online public spaces in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Emerging from the belief that culture is a necessity, not a luxury, the festival aims to create new opportunities for residents to actively engage in artmaking alongside artists in the streets.
Building on its past achievements, the festival is gearing up for its 8th edition. The 2024 edition, titled "Stories in Motion," will spotlight "Resilience Through Art," celebrating the transformative power of creative expression in overcoming adversity. With a special emphasis on music and dance, the festival will offer an inspiring lineup of activities designed to engage, uplift, and empower the community.
- Collaborative Performances and Art Therapy:In partnership with Katim Disability Dance Group, performances and therapeutic art sessions will be held at the Addis Ababa Center for Rehabilitation and Development of Victims of Social Problems,showcasing the healing power of dance.
- Art in Public Spaces:Musical and vocal instruments will be displayed in prominent building lobbies, mini parks, public schools, and lounges throughout Addis Ababa, transforming these spaces into vibrant platforms for artistic expression.
- Skill Enhancement Workshops:Partnering withZiconConsulting, the festival will offer workshops focused on helping artists build professional portfolios, compelling bios, and impactful social media presences.
Scheduled from December 20 to December 30, 2024, this year's festival continues its tradition of fostering creativity while addressing important societal issues.
