Sally Conroy

Hi, my name is Sally and I am Head of MFL at Cardinal Newman 6th Form College, Preston in Northwest England. I am extremely interested in and passionate about making language learning accessible and fun for our young people, and as a teacher in secondary schools in the northwest for 25 years, I have sought to make German fun for our young people (even the grammar!) through games about grammar, as well as running trips abroad and exposing our young people to German literature.

As a teacher and Head of Department of German and MFL, I have run trips abroad from scratch and also work to help prepare our sixth form/college students for university applications/interviews, helped by my experience through being an associate lecturer for German at the University of Central Lancashire. Teaching German to students, especially at A Level, is an absolute privilege to me and I have always worked to make sure our students are prepared for life and potential future studies. I am also a Teacher of the EPQ and a Teaching and Learning Lead for my whole college, which proves my commitment to giving students tangible skills for life and making their research and learning accessible and fun.
