Virtual signing of the MoU of Ballakermeen High School, Isle of Man
On October 2 2020 the Goethe-Institut in London and the PASCH initiative in the UK had the honour to celebrate the first ever virtual signing ceremony of a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) when Ballakermeen High School in Douglas on the Isle of Man was officially welcome into the PASCH family.
Dr Susanne Frane, Deputy Head of Culture and Education, from the German Embassy in London, Dr Georgia Herlt, Deputy Director of the Goethe-Institut and Simone Pfliegel, Coordinator in Northwestern Europe for Schools: Partners for the Future at the Goethe-Institut in London took part in the signing ceremony that the Head teacher of Ballakermeen High School, Adrienne Burnett, and the PASCH coordinator at the school, Sian Murphy, had organized via Zoom, on the German side.
With great pleasure we also welcomed Dr Alex Allinson MHK, the Minister of Education for the Isle of Man, to our virtual ceremony as well.
The event included presentations in Germany by two students of Ballakermeen High School on both the history of the school and the Isle of Man which were followed by the singing of the national anthem of the Isle of Man, Arrane Ashoonagh Vannin, by Ballakermeen's school choir.
The official launch ceremony that will include a reception at the school will be hosted once the current quarantine situation on the Isle of Man will allow us to proceed, hopefully early in 2021.
