Literary Translation Competition
Join us for an event to celebrate the creative forces of literary translation and a healthy dose of competition with Artificial Intelligence, which may - or may not - take away all our jobs!
You will witness two experienced translators:
Christophe Fricker and
Ayça Türkoğlu, performing live translations on stage against
DeepL / ChatGPT / Google Translate which will be in the hands of machine translation expert,
Janiça Hackenbuchner. After each round of texts, ranging from 18th century literature through to children’s books and experimental texts, the public will assess: who translated it better - the humans or the machines?
Beers, soft drinks and pretzels will ensure a lively and fun evening!
The event will be moderated by
Jamie Bulloch.
