The EU Innovation. Media. Minds. Program has awarded International Mobility Grants to nine media professionals from public service broadcasters in the Western Balkans. These recipients will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at esteemed media institutions across the European Union (EU) and the region.

The program encompasses a variety of mobility opportunities, including job-shadowing visits to prominent EU and Balkan broadcasters. Host institutions include Croatian national broadcaster HRT, German Deutsche Welle (DW), and Italian Radiotelevisione italiana (RAI). Additionally, participants will spend a week in Belgrade with Serbian broadcaster RTS, learning from Radio Belgrade 1's legacy and attending training sessions on augmented reality for television. Participants will also join the Perugia International Journalism Festival (IJF), Europe’s largest gathering of journalists.

Mobility Opportunities Overview:
  • HRT is hosting colleagues from Montenegro’s RTCG and Bosnia’s BHRT focusing on educational and youth programming. The visiting journalists will work directly with HRT departmental editors to understand company culture values, and editorial practices.
  • DW is welcoming journalists from Kosovo’s RTK, Serbia’s RTV, and Bosnia’s BHRT. Journalists from RTK and BHRT will shadow DW’s Albanian and Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian teams gaining insights into DW’s editorial methods, structures, and mission while RTV’s PR Manager will explore DW’s youth content strategies, new media marketing, and promotional approaches.
  • RAI is hosting a BHRT journalist during the 2025 Milan Fashion Week. This experience will focus on RAI’s coverage of the fashion and entertainment industry, exploring their impact on global economy, media culture, and social trends.
  • International Journalism Festival, Perugia will be attended by journalists from Serbia’s RTV Youth O Radio and Bosnia’s BHRT BH Radio 1.  The two journalists will focus on youth media consumption, emerging formats, digital platforms, and AI ethics in journalism during the Europe’s largest journalism festival.
  • Radio Belgrade 1 will welcome a BH Radio 1 journalist for a week in its music department, offering hands-on experience in audio editing, digital audio workstations and social media management
With a total of €30,000 allocated across nine mobility grants, this initiative aims to empower media professionals in the Western Balkans, equipping them with skills that enrich their contributions to public service journalism and elevate content creation according to EU standards and practices.
