Sanghee Kwon studied Linguistics, German Studies and History at the University of Bielefeld in the master’s and PhD program. She then worked as an assistant to the Professor of German Studies and hold seminars in German literature. To pursue her postdoctoral project she received the Lise Meitner Scholarship of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
In Korea, she has taught German language, literature and culture at several universities and worked as a researcher at the National Parliamentary Library.
Her main focus lies on literary works in which personal developments and historical periods such as World War II or the German partition are discussed. She is also interested in popular science topics. For her translation work, she received a grant from the TOLEDO Mobility Fund in 2018 and in 2017 a "Work Stay for Translators" from the Literary Colloquium Berlin (lcb). She is currently a visiting professor at Hong-Ik University. Sanghee Kwon lives in Seoul.
