‘Ninety-nine meditations’ is how Hans Magnus Enzensberger describes this collection of poems that deal with the ordinary yet extraordinary. In small details we find the meaningful whole, with social criticism often lurking behind. The observations culminate in the 12-verse eponymous poem – Die Geschichte der Wolken (A History of Clouds).
