Durs Grünbein
Durs Grünbein spent more than a decade working on this cycle of poems about the destruction of Dresden in February 1945. He experienced little of the former glory of his hometown during his childhood. Grünbein’s 49 verses are not only about the historical background of the city, the destruction and reconstruction of its buildings, but also about what made Dresden what it was and is today.
