Hölderlin
Peter Weiss
In this play, Peter Weiss portrays the poet Friedrich Hölderlin as a political visionary, revolutionary and critic, who in the end is left only to failure. Inspired by the French Revolution of 1789, his student companions Sinclair, Hegel, Hiller, and Schelling initially share his enthusiasm for social and political upheaval. But Hölderlin remains a loner who eventually isolates himself completely.
