Raoul Schrott

Raoul Schrott studied in Innsbruck, Austria, and graduated in German, English and American Studies. He also attended study abroad programmes in Norwich, Great Britain, and at the Sorbonne in Paris. Schrott was a lecturer and visiting professor in Tübingen, Germany, and in Berne, Switzerland. Schrott completed his dissertation on Dada in 1988 and a year later published Makame, a volume of poetry. Raoul Schrott made a name for himself primarily because of his new translations of ancient myths, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh. Schrott has received several awards in recognition of his literary accomplishments, including the Austrian Rauris Literature Prize and the German Peter Huchel Prize for poetry. Raoul Schrott lives in Vorarlberg, Austria.
