Monica Cantieni worked for Swiss radio and television where she created the film platform Frischfilm which was awarded the Grimme Prize. Her first story, Hieronymus’ Kinder (Hieronymus’s Children) appeared in 1996. Cantieni’s debut novel Grünschnabel was published in 2011 and was nominated for the Swiss Book Prize in 2011 and for the First Book Award at the Edinburgh International Book Festival in 2015. In addition to several short stories that have been published in anthologies and literary journals, Cantiene has also written the play Lucia, Mädchen (Lucia, Girl), which premièred in 1998. Monica Cantieni lives in Wettingen and Bern, Switzerland.
