Lutz Seiler first completed an apprenticeship and then worked as a carpenter and bricklayer. He wrote his first poems during his military service. He began to study German language and literature and then co-founded and co-edited the literary magazine "moosbrand". His debut, the poetry collection "touched/led", was published in 1995, followed by other works with poetry and stories, including the story "Turksib", for which Seiler was awarded the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 2013. In 2014 his debut novel "Kruso" received the German Book Prize. Lutz Seiler lives in Wilhelmshorst near Berlin and in Stockholm.
