Meike Redeker, based in Berlin, is a visual artist working primarily with performance and video. Her work draws inspiration from her daily surroundings, the public space, and oftentimes from collaborations with people she interacts with or whom she invites to perform in her works. Her work explores how the systems around us shape individuals or society. Her video camera is directly integrated into her actions, reflecting what it means to see, show or perceive in various contexts.

Meike Redeker’s works have been shown in solo and group exhibitions and in film festivals internationally, including Kunstquartier Bethanien, Berlin, Kunstverein Hannover, Center for Contemporary Art Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Nakanojo-Biennale (Japan), EMAF Osnabrück, Kasseler DokFest, Addis Video Art Festival, Addis Abeba (Ethiopia), Experiments In Cinema, Albuquerque (USA).

Meike Redeker studied Fine Arts at the Braunschweig University of Art (Germany) and Media Art at Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia). Since then, she has been producing her work through the support of art grants and project funding.

Since 2022, she teaches Performance Art in the Visual Art Department at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, Germany. Redeker_bangaloREsident 24 © E. M.
During her residency in Bangalore, Meike Redeker will work together with theatre students of Abhinaya Taranga. Her project will explore influences which affect the performance of daily life, exploring lines between acting and non-acting. What makes us behave, move, decide, speak the way we do? In collaboration with the students, she will create scenes that blend non-staged actions with theatrical elements. The outcome will be a series of live performances in public space and a video work that challenge perceptions of reality and fiction.
