Exhibition 1: Completely KAFKA

Franz Kafka was not just a prose writer; he was also passionate about drawing. In a letter to his long-term fiancée Felice Bauer in 1913, Kafka half-ironically, half-proudly mentioned his artistic ambitions, promising to send her some old drawings soon. Drawing had once brought him "more satisfaction than anything else." Therefore, what better way to honour him on his anniversary than with a comic biography? And who better to create it than Nicolas Mahler, known for his minimalist drawing style?

We are thrilled to present the poster exhibition from the book in collaboration with artist Nicolas Mahler and Literaturhaus Stuttgart.

Nicolas Mahler, born in 1969, is a comic artist and illustrator based in Vienna. He has received numerous awards for his extensive work, including the Max und Moritz Prize for "Best German-language Comic Artist" in 2010, the Literaturhäuser Prize in 2015, and the Sondermann Prize in 2019.

Exhibition 2: FRANZ KAFKA AND PRAGUE

The exhibition provides a comprehensive look into the life of Franz Kafka. It covers his birth on 3rd July 1883 in Prague, his formative years, education, and his professional role as an insurance clerk. The exhibit delves into his early published works, including an article on airplanes and his first book "Meditation," which was published in 1912. It also displays drawings on the postcard, manuscripts of the short story "Metamorphosis" and others. The exhibition sheds light on Kafka's final days also, revealing that he passed away in a sanatorium in Kierling, Austria on 3rd June 1924 after battling tuberculosis, and was buried at the Jewish Cemetery in Prague.
