Nabanna Earth Weekend (NEW), is the literary festival section of Nabanna which started in 2019. The festival is a platform for arts and ideas. It is free, open-access, non-profit and bilingual. Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata has been associated with NEW since 2022.

Nabanna was initiated by Ms. Shanta Ghosh, Managing Trustee, SAMT, in 2006. It is held annually around Basanta Utsav/ Holi at Geetanjali Cultural Complex, Santiniketan. It provides a platform for craftspersons all over India to sell their wares and interact directly with their end buyers. It also organises workshops for artisans and students, art activity for children, a literary festival, a medical camp and cultural programmes.

The Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata invites German-Indian author and philosopher Krisha Kops to take part at the festival. He will participate in the following:

On Saturday, 4th March at 4:00 pm – Call and Response: The writer and the world. With writers Iryna Vikyrchak, Karuna Ezara Parikh, Krisha Kops and Sumana Roy. Moderator: Anjum Katyal
On Sunday, 5th March at 7:00 pm – Street Philosopher: German thinker and writer Krisha Kops links philosophy to daily life. In conversation with Arunava Sinha.

Krisha Kops studied philosophy (BA) and journalism (MA) at London and Westminster University, before receiving a Ph.D. in intercultural philosophy from the the University of Hildesheim. He wrote his dissertation about the modern philosophical receptions of the Bhagavad Gītā in Germany and India.

In creative writing, Krisha Kops has won the U20 Poetry Slam Championship (of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) in 2005. His first novel, “Das ewige Rauschen” was published in March 2022 and won the Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis (2022). For his next novel project he received the Schreibzeit scholarship (2022) from the Niedersachsen Stiftung and the Arbeitsstipendien des Freistaats Bayern für Schriftstellerinnen und Schriftsteller (2022).
