This session examines contemporary poetry
in Germany today. In the recent past, poetry in Germany has presented itself more heterogeneous than ever before. The search for a new identity after the reunification of the two Germanys, recently growing appreciation of public readings and performances, new ways of presenting and publishing via Internet and small publishers, and the intermixing of poetry and different art forms have profoundly changed the literary landscape.
Dr. Thomas Wohlfahrt, Director, Haus für Poesie, Berlin will lead the discussion with Jan Wagner, winner of the Leipzig Buchmesse Prize for fiction-writing, and Kedar Mishra, who has translated German poetry in the past and at PTP, and Shafi Shauq, who recently visited Germany as an Indian representative at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
