Prof. Dr. Karin von Welck
Prof. Dr. Karin von Welck Having studied cultural anthropology, political sciences and comparative linguistics, Dr von Welck started work in 1973 at the University in Cologne, Germany as a curator for several small ethnographic museums and went on to be Director of the Reiss-Museum, the museum for cultural history of the city of Mannheim. During her stay in Mannheim, she was nominated as Honorary Professor of the University. From 2004 until 2010, she was Minister for Culture of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. She is also a member of the board and the head of the cultural committee for the German Commission of the UNESCO.
