A Glimpse into the Diversity of the Language and Culture of German-Speaking Countries

Goethe-Institut Seoul

At the “Day of the German Language” visitors have the opportunity to learn more about the language and culture of German-speaking countries in a laid-back atmosphere. In keeping with this year's theme of “weather”, the “Day of the German Language” is being held under the title “In good and in bad weather”, offering a particularly relaxed introduction to the German language.

The program includes German language trial classes, an information booth about studying in German-speaking countries, a classical music concert, a book flea market, and a lucky draw with a subsequent prize-giving ceremony. One of the main prizes is a scholarship for a language course in Germany. In a panel discussion, the embassies of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will also talk about the diversity of the language and culture of German-speaking countries. Additionally, there will be games, a photo booth and the opportunity to buy typical culinary specialities from German-speaking countries at various catering stands.

The “Day of the German Language” will take place on Saturday, November 30, from 1 PM to 6 PM at the Goethe-Institut Korea. Admission is free and prior German language skills are not required to participate. Pre-registration is also not necessary.

The “Day of the German Language” is organized and hosted by the Embassies of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, the Goethe-Institut, the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), the DSSI (German School Seoul International), and the Association of (German-language) Lecturers in Korea.
