In 1962, the year of its foundation, the Goethe-Institut already had more than 200 students enrolled and regarding the teaching of German many cooperations with Malaysian institutions, such as the Technical University, the University of Arts and the government.
1963 19 August
The sisters Winnie Long & Jee Yeng Long learned German at the Goethe-Institut Malaysia from 1958 and were the first Malaysian German teachers trained in Germany in 1963.
1967 7 March
The popularity of the German language in the Asian region and the scholarship programs of the German speaking countries are increasing. In this context, Goethe-Institut Malaysia is the first contact point for anyone interested in the German language and culture.

2002 2 April
The Jugendjazzorchester Baden-Württemberg inspired the Malaysian audience not only in the concert hall but also in the public space.
2003 20 October
"Germany in Mind" - an exhibition sponsored by DaimlerChrysler (now Mercedes Benz) and organized by Goethe-Institut that gave Malaysian art students the opportunity to not only win prizes but also to express their personal association with Germany. The exhibition was shown in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and even in Suttgart.
2004 28 April
The training of local German teachers was from the beginning and still is one of the most important aims of the Goethe-Institut.
2005 30 March
The bilingual book "Kumpulan Puisi I Gesammelte Gedichte I (1963-1972)" was published with the support of the Goethe-Institut. The poems were translated from German into Bahasa Malaysia by Latiff Mohidin (middle).
2006 18 February
A hip hop workshop organized by the Goethe-Institut was very popular with young people from a school in Gombak, Selangor.
