The German proverb “Es gibt etwas auf die Ohren!” (There's something for the ears!) usually doesn't bode well; but in our case, it does.
Welcome to the project page of “Malaysia for the Ears,” an exciting initiative by the PASCH/BKD department of the Goethe-Institut Malaysia that took place from May to August.
About the project
This unique educational project provided 65 Malaysian secondary school students from six schools with an innovative learning experience exploring the German language through the art of podcasting.
Over the course of the summer, these dedicated students worked individually on podcast modules such as:
Module 1 “Getting to Know Podcasts”
Module 2 “Preparing a Podcast”
Module 3 “Planning a Podcast”
Module 4 “Recording a Podcast”
... and independently created their first podcasts in German!
The process was both creative and educational as they developed their language skills while sharing their own stories, insights and cultural perspectives.
The finished podcasts were recorded on special creative soundtracks and distributed to the other participating schools so that other students could experience the voices and perspectives of their peers.
This project not only improved the students' German language skills, but also encouraged intercultural exchange and creativity.
On this page, you can discover the highlights and achievements of “Malaysia for the Ears”, listen to some of the remarkable podcasts below created by the students and learn more about their experiences and the impact of the project.
The results of the project can be listened to in a special exhibition at Goethe-Institut Malaysia's Language Media Centre. This exhibition showcases the students' podcasts and provides a unique opportunity to experience their creative endeavors first-hand.
Exciting news: “Malaysia for the Ears” will continue next year with a sequel that will involve even more schools. We look forward to expanding this enriching experience and hearing new voices from across Malaysia!
