The German jazz musician Jens Bunge, also coined as the “Master of Harmonica“, will be performing at the jazz club No Black Tie on the 23rd and 24th December, together with the Rachel Guerzo Trio.

Jens Bunge is an exceptional musician who has for some time been redefining the way of how to play harmonica in a jazz context– an artist on a mission, with creativity, a rich pallet of color and virtuoso technique. He began to teach himself to play the chromatic harmonica at the age of 18. Influenced by the recordings of Toots Thielemans, he soon found his passion for jazz.

As a solo artist as well as a band member, he was invited to several prestigious jazz festivals like the World Harmonica Festival in Trossingen/Germany, the Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival in South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Merate Musica in Italy and the SPAH Convention in St. Louis/USA. In addition to that, Bunge also works a writer for the jazz column of the magazine “The Harmonica Educator”. Moreover Jens Bunge has recorded eight albums under his own name and appears as a guest on recordings from several musicians from around the world.

He will be playing together with the Rachel Guerzo Trio, whose lead singer Rachel Guerzo, a jazz pianist/singer who studied at Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts, was born into one of Malaysia’s most influential music family background, the Solianos and emerged as one of the most exciting and ground breaking jazz musicians in her own right.

Concerts are organized by No Black Tie and supported by the Goethe-Institut.
