Basia Smolnicki is a Wellington based printmaker artist specialising in traditionally hand-crafted fine art prints and sandblasted designs on glass used as functional and decorative features in homes and interiors.
Born in New Zealand to Polish immigrants, Basia’s combines traditional Polish folk art representation with New Zealand flora and fauna to create graphic narratives that explore identity and connection to land and culture. In 1990 Basia was commissioned sandblasted designs on glass installed at the Goethe-Institut office interior in Wellington.
