Urbanities - art and public space in Pakistan
The yearlong project "Urbanities - art and public space in Pakistan," for which the Goethe-Institut Pakistan collaborated with LBF, Vasl artists' Association,Marvi Mazhar & Associates, and other partners in 2016, was realized as a critical exploration of the urban and its possibilities by way of individual artistic work and research approaches. A lively exchange of discourse and practice between Germany and Pakistan aimed to enable a broad audience to engage with contemporary art. All three leading artistic positions tackled questions of community engagement and collective experience and still have an impact until today.
The newly printed publication documents, evaluates, and advances the initial positions by Honi Ryan, Miro Craemer and Zoohaus/Inteligencias Colectivas. Additional essays and viewpoints by Gulraiz Khan, Marvi Mazhar, Veera Rustomj (Vasl artists' Association), Zahra Malkani & Shahana Rajani reference the project and continue the conversation on art and public space in Pakistan.
