Film adaptation of the autobiography of German entertainer Hape Kerkeling. This was the most viewed movie of the year and received 3 Lola awards
It is 1972 in the Ruhr Valley of Germany. Hans-Peter is nine years old, a bit chubby but full of self-confidence - mostly due to his ability to make other people laugh. He nurtures this talent whenever and wherever he has the chance: sometimes performing to an audience of customers at his grandmother’s grocery store or for his party-loving relatives.
Hape's idyllic family life, however, takes a downturn when his mother develops severe depression. Her sadness, however, proves an even greater incentive for Hape to work on his talent as a comedian.
