BEIJING: RAN CHEN, JULY YANG
© Ran Chen, July Yang RAN CHEN is a Beijing-based theatre director, sound designer, and curator, as well as a founding member of StageNoMore. She is strongly committed to explorations of the mediated lives of our contemporaries. Her works often walk on the boundaries between collective and private memories, and fiction and reality. She has been a resident artist at the Academy for Theatre and Digitality in Dortmund. Her works include, It's me. Speaking, Moving Theatre: The Blurred Cities, and The Moments When We Chat.JULY YANG is a multi-disciplinary performance maker, a member of the _ao_ao_ing ensemble (老妖精), with a Master of Arts in Performance Making (Goldsmiths) and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature and History of Art (HKU). Her practice reflects on the contemporary daily encounter, especially in the urban context, with an interest in sound as a medium and food as a material. Recent works include audio walks such as, Gems of Guangzhou, Gone with the Streets, and Here They Wu-er, as well as on-going research serial works.
