An exhibition exploring pathways towards just technological futures
In October 2024, the Goethe-Institut San Francisco will launch its new location in the vibrant Yerba Buena cultural district. The inaugural program will feature an exhibition highlighting the work of
C/Change, a multi-year collaboration between the Goethe-Institut San Francisco and Gray Area. This initiative investigates how emerging technologies, when infused with intentional design, can foster cross-cultural exchange and empower marginalized voices.
The exhibition will present a selection of prototypes from the C/Change collaboration, featuring artists who explore themes of diversity, inclusion, social justice, and ecological crises at the intersection of technology and the arts. Featured projects include
Tasting Tomorrow, People’s Graphic Design Archive, All Possible Rivers, Dragon’s Delusion, and
Missing Objects Library. This exhibition invites visitors to engage with critical questions about future pathways for tech-enabled cultural exchange, encouraging reflection on our direction as we navigate ongoing polycrises in 2025 and beyond.
In conjunction with the exhibition, a closing panel discussion will feature leading artists' and technology creatives, engaging in dialogue on the future of emerging digital technologies and their cross-cultural platforms. This networking event will provide opportunities for stakeholders in the arts and technology sectors to connect across disciplines and explore new cultures of inclusion.

On November 21, there will be a panel discussion (panelists to be confirmed) and networking event, offering an opportunity for deeper engagement with the themes of the exhibition.
